About Me

My name is Coreen McKenzie, and my journey to becoming a McKenzie Friend didn’t start in a courtroom or a law office. It started with family.

Several years ago, my partner and I found ourselves navigating the family court system in order to secure the    stability, safety and future of a child we love dearly. Like many people, we had no legal background, no                understanding of court procedures, and no idea where to begin.

What we did know was that the process was overwhelming.

The paperwork seemed endless. The forms were confusing. Every letter that arrived through the door created more questions than answers. We quickly discovered how expensive legal representation could be, and like many families, we realised that professional legal fees were simply out of reach.

So we learned.

We spent countless hours reading guidance, completing applications, preparing statements, organising evidence and attending hearings. We learned how important it is to be prepared, to stay organised and to understand the process.

Most importantly, we learned how lonely and intimidating family court can feel when you don’t know what you’re doing.

Thankfully, our journey had a positive outcome. Today, that child remains at the centre of our family, and the      experience changed my life.

It also opened my eyes to how many ordinary people are facing family court proceedings without the confidence, support or financial resources they need.

That is why I chose to become a McKenzie Friend.

I provide practical, affordable support to people who are representing themselves in family court. Whether you need help understanding forms, preparing applications, organising documents, drafting statements or simply   having someone guide you through the process, my aim is to make things feel less overwhelming and more manageable.

I am not a solicitor or barrister,  What I do provide is professional support, understanding, and the benefit of   real-life experience navigating the family court system.

When people contact me, they are often scared, confused and unsure where to start. My goal is simple: to help you feel informed, prepared and confident enough to move forward.

Because sometimes, having someone in your corner can make all the difference.
